Skateboard Design and Business Program (SKDB)

This program was first offered and taught by Nadé in the spring of 2017.  Due to the programs success in re-engaging students Nadé is teaching a 2nd SKDB program, a fall/winter session.  Units and lessons create a variety of cross-curricular learning opportunities whereby students gain hands-on design and production experience: woodworking, drawing, digital design, and participation in on and off-site workshops with community mentors, entrepreneurs and businesses. Each student gains an understanding of employment, as both an employer and employee, from a business and entrepreneurial perspective.

Visit the SKDB website to view more student work, documentation and snapshots of the many activities students engage in.

Exhibiting Student Work

Nadé encourages students to exhibit their artwork, outside buildings, inside buildings and through online websites or blogs.  In this case students participated in the annual “Spark” Photography Festival.  A series of large images were pasted (and posted) on the walls of two downtown buildings.

Special Education Art Projects

Designed for special education students, each students is given a specific color range of coloring crayons and paints.  Students color large areas of paper which are then transformed into animals based on books illustrated by Eric Carle.

Equity and Diversity Initiatives

Student’s work has been displayed in two annual Equity and Diversity calendars that are distributed throughout the School Board.
